How to turn a hutch
that's too small into a
unit for a rabbit rescue..
First, our volunteer Joyce received this donation from Peninsula Friends Of Animals. They got it as a donation but don't house cats in hutches. We inspected it, hosed it off and cleaned it up in general. Then began to paint it.
We added recycled wood pallette pieces to the enclosure to give it a second level and added wheels to the bottom.
After adding these elements we begin to close up the sides, add doors and paint the remainder of it.
Then with the paint job nearly completed we add screen and hardware to the drawers. We caulk the enclosure as well to prevent leaks.
Lastly we touch up the paint and let it dry.
We're done! It wasn't easy but it was lots of fun!
