WHAT IS A DOUJINSHI?
A doujinshi is a fan comic. A story written by fans of popular TV,
cartoons / anime and video game characters and worlds. An original
doujinshi is a fan made comic that is the original creation of the
fans. The characters and worlds are new, and are singular expressions
of a fresh talent wishing to tell and or illustrate new stories for
others to enjoy.
SUBMITING YOUR ORIGINAL DOUJINSHI
All material in your story must be original. All characters and places
must be new. You cannot create a new city in the Full Metal Alchemist
universe, and your character cannot be Peter Parker's long lost sister.
Make your planet, series, etc. all original. You can have generic
elements like drows, orcs, ninjas, pirates and ninja-pirates... but
don't copy, be as original as possible, and above all, entertain folk.
Parodies are also acceptable, as long as they are entertaining on their
own and stand up as original pieces. Content that you would see in Mad
magazine and Cracked wouldn't be suitable for Healthy Insanity, those
parodies are too close to the original work.
PORN & GORE = NOT OK
Content must also be no stronger than PG-13, no porn, needless
bloodshed or illegal themes. HI isn't meant to be kid safe, so you can
have mature themes, adultish jokes and bloodshed, just nothing over the
top.
PAGE COUNT IS OPEN.
How many pages should stories be? As many as you like. Though we
recommend 8 page chapters for beginners.
HOW "COMMISSION" WORKS.
Every comic page, every comic strip and every pinup counts as a "page."
Half of your pages must have been created in part by commission work.
It could be commission writing, penciling, inking, coloring or
lettering. This means that only part of it needs to be commission, you
can do the rest. For instance if you are a kick ass artist, you can
hire someone to sketch and you'll ink it, or perhaps you'll just color
it. Both count!
Here are examples of acceptible submissions.
Don (copyright holder, artist) hires Paul (writer) to write his 5 page
comic.
5 comic pages including Paul's commission writing
5 pinups by Don himself
Paul (copyright holder, writer) hires Sally (artist) to draw four pages
of his comic. Greg volunteers to draw four pinups to get his name out
there.
4 comic pages including Sally's commission art
4 free pinups by Greg
Here's an example of what doesn't qualify.
Greg (copyright holder, artist) draws his own comic and pays Don
(artist) to do one pinup.
7 pages by Greg
1 pinup commission by Paul.
Half of the submitted pages did not contain commission elements.

PLEASE NOTE: If you sign a contract with Healthy Insanity, it is highly
recommended that you also sign contracts between yourself and your own
